Santa Macarena Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021
Aconcagua, Chile
Producer: Espinos y Cardos
This single vineyard Pinot Noir is bright, aromatic and fresh with subtle oak playing a supporting role. The emphasis on the delicious red fruit flavours, drinkability and enjoyment. A seriously cool Pinot.
Santa Macarena are outstanding single-vineyard wines sourced from one of the most coastal vineyards in Chile, situated in the Leyda region just south of the port of San Antonio.
Vines were planted on the advice of top Viticulturalist, Pedro Parra, in the 1990s on a single slope just 5 km from the ocean and 55 miles west of central Santiago.
The morning mists and spring frosts, often associated with the Napa Valley and Bordeaux are brought from the west coast by the Humboldt current.
This cool, marginal climate makes for challenging growing conditions but the results are well worth all the effort.
Suitable for Vegetarians & Vegans

This is gorgeously styled and complex on the nose showing dark cherry, dried herb, toasted almond and earthy mushroom notes, followed by a beautifully weighted palate offering silken texture and fine polished tannins. Elegant yet generous with a persistent spicy finish.

From one of the cooler parts of Chile comes this very smart Pinot Noir that beautifully showcases the savoury and herbal style of Pinot Noirs from South America. It instantly screams Pinot Noir thanks to a combination of dark cherry, truffle, spice and earthy aromas. Dry, mid weight and beautifully silky, there is then impressive richness and complexity before a long, ripe finish. There is a bit of warmth on the finish that just takes the edge off what is a very good Chilean Pinot for early drinking.
