Argentina
We produce Malbec in Mendoza, a region that has become synonymous with the variety. With dark, berryish fruit and rich supple texture it is no surprise that Argentina leads the world in Malbec.
With more than 300 days of sunshine a year, low annual rainfall, and high altitudes, Argentina’s Mendoza region provides near perfect conditions for the cultivation of wine grapes.
From its original home in Cahors, Southern France, Malbec has found its spiritual home in Argentina. The grape migrated to Argentina when a visionary, who later became President, Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, asked French grape specialist Miguel Pouget to bring French grapevine cuttings to Argentina. Amongst others, Pouget brought Malbec and the rest is history!
Argentina has grown to be one of the largest producers of quality wine in the world.
