Wild & Wilder The Opportunist Shiraz

Wild & Wilder The Opportunist Shiraz 2021

Langhorne Creek, South Australia, Australia

Producer: Thistledown Wine Company

We’ve all got a mate who, despite the calamities befalling everyone else, always lands with his bum in the butter. When everyone else sees doom and gloom, The Opportunist sees blue skies and sunshine. Love him or hate him, The Opportunist always comes out on top.

An aromatic bouquet of ripe fruits, cherries and blackcurrants, with notes of freshly ground coffee, dark chocolate, peppermint, liquorice and subtle pepper. Thick and smooth with good balanced fruit weight.

Suitable for vegetarians and vegans

Points, Awards, Reviews:

  • 93 points - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
Upfront and immediately appealing, the perfumed bouquet shows black/blueberry, violet, mixed spice and subtle cocoa notes on the nose. The palate is equally attractive with juicy fruit intensity, wonderfully complemented by plump mouthfeel and silky tannins.

  • TOP VALUE & TOP RANK (90 points) The Real Review (Huon Hooke)
Deep, bright purple/red colour. Spicy and dry-herb aromas, reserved and appealing, more than just simple fruit. There's a twist of pepper and suggestions of whole-bunch fermentation, the palate intense and medium to full-bodied, with a twist of bitterness in the tannins which doesn't mar it. A bold, bright, primal red that already drinks well if you like 'em that young.
