Santa Macarena Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2019
Producer: Espinos y Cardos
This single vineyard Pinot Noir is bright, aromatic and fresh with subtle oak playing a supporting role. The emphasis on the delicious red fruit flavours, drinkability and enjoyment. A seriously cool Pinot.
Santa Macarena are outstanding single-vineyard wines sourced from one of the most coastal vineyards in Chile, situated in the Leyda region just south of the port of San Antonio.
Vines were planted on the advice of top Viticulturalist, Pedro Parra, in the 1990s on a single slope just 5 km from the ocean and 55 miles west of central Santiago.
The morning mists and spring frosts, often associated with the Napa Valley and Bordeaux are brought from the west coast by the Humboldt current.
This cool, marginal climate makes for challenging growing conditions but the results are well worth all the effort.
Suitable for Vegetarians & Vegans
Stuart Knox, The Real Review
'Pale to medium garnet colour with hints of purple to the rim. Black cherries, seaweed and vegetable stock on the nose. Simple red fruits, very zippy acid line keeping things very fresh and lively on the palate.'
91 Points - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
'It's spicy and fragrant on the nose showing ripe cherry, thyme, cured meat and dark mushroom notes, leading to a soothing palate that's finely textured and lingering. Well structured by fine grainy tannins, finishing savoury and elegantly dry. At its best: now to 2024.'
Grape Variety: 100% Pinot Noir
